About

Since moving to the Southeast folk scene in 2006 from South Florida, 28-year-old Atlanta-based singer/songwriter Dave Daniels has evolved from heart-on-the-sleeve acoustic singer/songwriter to electric rock and soul guitarist, harmonica player, and frontman with his new band, The PTA (Part Time Association).

For the last two years, the band has remained a steady force in the Southeast, comprised of a revolving cast of musicians from regional and national bands (Railroad Earth, The Soulphonics, Donna The Buffalo, Corey Smith, The Codetalkers, Damion Suomi & The Minor Prophets). Daniels uses his knack for illuminating lyric writing and ear for blending wild mixes of musical genres (rock, pop, blues, folk, jazz, country, and world music) to bring the band and audience experience together with a rye sense of humor and warm personality in between songs. The press agrees:

“With the crackling PTA behind him, Daniels is able to express sorrow and anger as easy as love, and he expresses them all here, especially on his own songs .” Atlanta Music Guide, 2010
“A superb piece of work that will stand on its own on the strength of Daniels’ limber lyrical sensibility and mature musical chops.” Tallahassee Democrat, 2010

Recently, the band raised over $3,000 in only 30 days to fund their next album, which will feature a full horn section and be released in the summer of 2011. The band is also scheduled to perform at Atlanta’s prestigious Inman Park Festival this year, along with other festivals and club shows in the Southeast.

Daniels’ latest CD release, Just Like Ghosts, sold over 1,000 copies since it’s release in late 2009. The record, Daniels’ third full length independent CD, was recorded in Atlanta and Nashville with producer Ben Holst (studio credits include Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, and Drive By Truckers). Daniels plays over 100 shows a year around the Southeast, and has shared the stage with Connor Christian & Southern Gothic, Blair Crimmins & The Hookers, Sonia Leigh & Levi Lowery (from Zac Brown’s Southern Ground Records), Angie Aparo, Caroline Herring, and other regional and national acts.
